Hamas seeks Russia's assistance in encouraging the formation of a Palestinian unity government to govern Gaza after the war, Report.
Hamas has requested that Russia urge Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to initiate discussions about forming a national unity government for Gaza after the war, according to a senior Hamas official speaking to RIA state news agency following meetings in Moscow.
Mousa Abu Marzouk, a member of Hamas' political bureau, met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov in the Russian capital, as reported by Reuters.
"We talked about issues concerning Palestinian national unity and the formation of a government to administer the Gaza Strip after the conflict," Marzouk told RIA.
According to RIA, Marzouk also stated that Hamas had asked Russia to motivate Abbas, who is attending the BRICS summit in Kazan, to begin negotiations for a unity government.
