Israel strikes targets across Iran, warning Tehran against any retaliation

Iran's military acknowledged that Israeli strikes hit military bases in the Ilam, Khuzestan, and Tehran provinces, causing "limited damage."

The Israeli military has conducted strikes on Iran, targeting around 20 sites over several hours in response to the Islamic Republic's missile attack on Israel on October 1. An Israeli army spokesperson, naming the operation “Days of Reckoning,” stated that the assault targeted Iran’s missile production facilities, surface-to-air missile systems, and other air defense capabilities.

Iran’s military confirmed the strikes on military bases in the provinces of Ilam, Khuzestan, and Tehran, reporting only “limited damage.” Israel has warned Iran against any retaliation, stating it would be “obligated to respond” and has “additional targets” ready if needed.

A U.S. National Security Council spokesperson acknowledged that Washington was aware of the strikes but did not participate, calling the operation an "exercise in self-defense." Meanwhile, Israeli authorities have closed the country's airspace until 8:30 am local time (05:30 GMT), although no public alert has been issued to citizens.
