Putin states that Russia will persist in testing a new missile used in strikes on Ukraine

President Zelenskyy has condemned Russia’s deployment of a new hypersonic missile, which the Kremlin claims was intended as a warning to the West.

President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia will continue testing its new Oreshnik hypersonic missile in combat, with a stockpile already prepared for use. This follows the missile’s first deployment in Ukraine on Thursday, which Putin described as a successful test. He stated that further tests would proceed based on evolving security threats against Russia.

The launch, according to Putin, was a response to Ukraine’s use of U.S. ballistic missiles and British cruise missiles in attacks on Russian territory. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv, in collaboration with its Western allies, is working to develop systems to counter these "new risks."
