Trump Issues Clemency for All January 6 Capitol Attack Defendants
US president sweeps away years-long effort to punish those responsible for trying to overturn the 2020 election.
United States President Donald Trump has issued clemency to all individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol as one of his first official actions in office.
In a significant move to reverse the efforts to hold those accountable for attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 U.S. election, Trump on Monday pardoned approximately 1,500 supporters and commuted the sentences of 14 others.
