Israel carries out a drone strike in Lebanon’s Sidon, killing a man, as efforts continue to maintain the Gaza ceasefire that began on January 19. U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, states that the Israel-Hamas truce remains intact while Israeli negotiators travel to Cairo.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrives in Saudi Arabia after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who praised Trump’s plan to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza. Rubio asserts that Hamas “must be eradicated,” casting doubt on the viability of the three-phase ceasefire.
