Israel's military escalates its ground offensive in Gaza, aiming to "capture extensive territory" for expanded buffer zones, according to Defence Minister Israel Katz.
The announcement follows relentless Israeli bombardment, which has claimed at least 42 lives since dawn. Since the collapse of the truce, at least 1,042 Palestinians have been killed.
